Led by Dr. Martin, our experienced pain management specialist, Prestige Pain & Trauma Institute provides advanced care for acute pain, chronic pain, spine conditions, nerve pain, joint injuries, and persistent symptoms after surgery or trauma.
We take the time to understand how your pain started, how it affects your daily life, and which treatments you have already tried. From there, we develop a structured care plan based on your diagnosis, medical history, functional goals, and individual needs.
Dr. Martin is a dual board-certified physician in Pain Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He completed his interventional pain fellowship at Harvard Medical School through Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
His advanced training allows him to bring the diagnostic discipline of emergency medicine to complex acute and chronic pain conditions. He has particular experience evaluating traumatic injuries involving the spine, joints, and peripheral nerves.
Dr. Martin’s approach was also shaped by his service as a U.S. Air Force emergency medicine physician. In that environment, accuracy, accountability, and sound clinical judgment were essential. He brings those same principles to his work as a pain management specialist today.
Rather than focusing only on where it hurts, Dr. Martin works to identify the structure, nerve, or condition most likely causing the symptoms before recommending treatment.
By combining modern pain medicine with clear communication and measurable goals, Dr. Martin helps patients work toward improved function, greater stability, and a better understanding of their condition.
Karen Hoang is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than a decade of clinical experience. She completed her graduate training in Massachusetts and has practiced across primary care, urgent care, cardiology, and electrophysiology.
Throughout her career, Karen has cared for patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, including medically complex patients with multiple comorbidities and extensive treatment histories. Her background includes comprehensive medical assessment, chronic disease and medication management, cardiovascular evaluation, and coordination of specialty care.
At Prestige Pain & Trauma Institute, Karen is involved in the comprehensive evaluation and ongoing management of patients with acute, chronic, and injury-related pain. Her role includes medication management, review of diagnostic studies, monitoring treatment response, coordination of care, and medical clearance for advanced procedures. Working closely with Dr. Martin, she helps carry out Prestige Pain & Trauma Institute’s vision of providing prompt, accurate, and effective care for every patient.
Karen is also Dr. Martin’s wife and clinical partner at Prestige Pain & Trauma Institute. Together, they work closely in the care of patients throughout the practice.
Pain is personal. Two patients with discomfort in the same area may have entirely different conditions and require different treatment plans.

You will discuss where your pain is located, how it feels, when it started, what makes it worse, and what helps. Dr. Martin will also review prior diagnoses, medications, procedures, surgeries, injuries, imaging, and other relevant health information.

Your evaluation may include a physical exam and a discussion of whether additional imaging, records, or diagnostic steps are needed to better understand your condition and confidently recommend next steps.

After reviewing your condition, Dr. Martin will discuss treatment options that may be appropriate for your specific situation. You will leave with a better understanding of what may be causing your pain and what the next step in care may look like.
